EIGHT people will fight it out to became Greater Manchester's first elected mayor, it has been confirmed.

The full list of candidates hoping to take the region's top job has been released ahead of the May 4 poll.- Trafford council leader, Sean Anstee, will run for the Conservatives ? Trafford councillor, Jane Brophy, for the Lib Dems, l ? Leigh MP, Andy Burnham, for Labour ? Stephen Morris, from Bury, will stand for the English Democrats ? Shneur Odze, from Salford, for Ukip ? Will Patterson, from Wigan, for the Green Party And two independents: ? Mohammad Aslam, from Salford ? Manchester-based businessman, Marcus Farmer.

Those already on the electoral register at their current address will not need to do anything before the historic vote. Polling cards are currently being sent out.

The deadline for people to be put on the electoral register is next Thursday - April 13. …
