JOSE Mourinho has conceded United striker Marcus Rashford is lacking confidence after another blunt performance in the draw with Everton.

The 19-year-old enjoyed an enterprising start to the season but has not scored a Premier League goal since September 24.

Mourinho accused Rashford and other United forwards of performing 'inconsistently' during the weekend stalemate with West Brom but was more protective of the United academy graduate on Tuesday night.

"We have people that are not getting the opportunity and that's bad for the team," Mourinho said. "I speak with them because when you give absolutely everything and leave the pitch absolutely dead that's fine for me.

"Marcus Rashford doesn't score a [Premier League] goal since September, the only thing he deserves is support, nothing else, no critics, support. He works, he works, he works, he tries, he tries, he tries. He plays through the middle, he plays on the left, on the right, he tries.

"So just as an example I have to support the boys and, hopefully, in the Europa League we score enough to go through to the next round and it is something we have to improve next season. …
