Saskatchewan Crown Wants Child Pornographer Labelled as a Dangerous Offender

Sentencing held for child pornographer

SASKATOON - The sentencing hearing of a man convicted of 20 offences including making child pornography has been told the Crown may seek dangerous offender status in the case.

Designation as a dangerous offender or long-term offender could result in Russell Wolfe receiving an indefinite jail sentence.

The Crown will now start compiling all of Wolfe's criminal history and will likely apply to have the case assessed by a forensic expert.

Crown prosecutor Bryce Pashovitz says they don't make such application lightly, and always make them in consultation with colleagues and superiors.

Wolfe's defence lawyer, Brian Pfefferle, says he does not think his client is a dangerous offender.

He says Wolfe should either be sentenced as a regular offender or as a long-term offender, with the aim of having him re-released and integrated back into the community at some point. …
