TUESDAY Extended preview - Music / British Sea Power Back in 2015, Brighton indie stalwarts British Sea Power embarked on a special tour to celebrate the 12th anniversary of their debut album The Decline of British Sea Power. Ahead of their Manchester appearance, CityLife asked the band what they made of their status as an enduring British indie institution.

"I wouldn't describe us as that at all," laughed Yan Wilkinson, the band's frontman. "When we started out, we just wanted to make things a bit better and not just be another s**t band clogging up record shop shelves."

British Sea Power, it's safe to say, could never be confused for a run-of-the-mill guitar band. Formed in 2000 and signed to Rough Trade around the same time as The Libertines and The Strokes, BSP have evolved from eccentric indie curios into one of Britain's most consistently inventive guitar acts. …
