JOSE Mourinho has given his strongest indication yet that he is ready to splash the cash on a striker this summer.

The United manager has seen his goal-shy team score just 43 times in the Premier League this season - 19 fewer than leaders Chelsea.

Mourinho is hoping to cure the problem by signing a proven striker ahead of next season. And he still might be forced into the transfer market for two if Zlatan Ibrahimovic decides to leave Old Trafford after just one season.

United have been linked with Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann, Everton's Romelu Lukaku, Torino's Andrea Belotti and Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski.

Mourinho was also complimentary about former Red Javier Hernandez, now at Bayer Leverkusen, at his press conference yesterday.

The Portuguese coach said he has missed a 'killer' in front of goal like the Mexican striker this season. …
