NAT071 - (Missing-Snowshoers-BC) LIONS BAY, B.C. x-11s. The mayor of Lions Bay, north of Vancouver, says five snowshoers who died on a mountain near his community were doing nothing wrong and were prepared for the conditions on Mount Harvey. But Karl Buhr (burr) says they weren't prepared enough. He says conditions can be extreme, but the area is becoming increasingly popular. ("..challenging, perhaps.") (SOURCE:The Canadian Press)

TAG: Buhr believes the five were from the Maple Ridge area. Rescuers say they were likely standing on an overhanging lip of snow, called a cornice, at the peak of Mount Harvey, when it collapsed on Saturday, dropping them more than 500 metres from the north face of the mountain.
