FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta. x-15s. Alberta says it will spend 45-million dollars over the next three years to help protect communities in forested areas from wildfires. The increased funding will be available to municipalities that want to set up a FireSmart strategy -- a program that includes clearing trees and brush away from communities, homes and buildings. Forestry Minister Oneil Carlier (oh-NEEL' CAHL'-yuhr) says memories of the Fort McMurray disaster should prompt civic officials to apply for the cash.
