Thoroughbred VWs Head the Field at Camperfest

CAMPERVAN enthusiasts descended on Chester Racecourse in their droves over the Easter weekend for the annual Camperfest event.

It's the eighth year the historic city has welcomed hundreds of vans of all shapes and sizes and despite a rather chilly and at times damp outlook, the 'vanners' still turned up en masse to make the most of their bank holiday break.

This isn't what you'd call a 'festival' on the scale of some VW events - the programme of events is limited, but it's definitely popular with campers keen to enjoy the city from close proximity - there's nowhere closer to park your van than the edge of the city walls.

And you do get free entry into the Chester Food and Drink festival which takes place at the racecourse over the same weekend. With over 150 exhibitors and a reasonably sunny Saturday afternoon on which to wander around, it was definitely worth a visit. …
