ST. LOUIS * A convicted murderer from Black Jack was sentenced in federal court here Thursday to an extra 21 months in prison for taunting and threatening the father of his victim in a letter.

Eleven days after Travon D. Lawrence, 21, was sentenced in St. Louis Circuit Court to 20 years in prison for the murder, he mailed a letter to the father of his victim, Steven Taylor, his federal plea agreement says.

In the July 19, 2016, letter, Lawrence insulted the father and his son, and wrote, "I got family on the streets that will Kill you. . . ."

Lawrence signed the letter "Steve Killer" and included a photograph of the body of the man's son.

Lawrence was indicted Aug. 17 on a federal charge of mailing threatening communications.

Defense lawyer Bobby Bailey said that he did not believe Lawrence's threats were real. …
