This state offers many opportunities to take a sojourn, a guided paddling trip on a waterway with breaks for lunch and other educational programming. The Pennsylvania Organization for Waterways and Rivers, with the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, distributes grants to groups who run these trips through the state Sojourns Program. Others scheduled this year on the western end of the state:

* Allegheny Aquatic Alliance's Connie Q Canoe Trip Celebration on Connoquenessing Creek, June 17-18.

* Conemaugh Valley Conservancy's Sojourn on the Stony-Kiskimenitas-Conemaugh rivers, June 1-4.

* First Waves Sojourn on the Stonycreek and Ohio rivers, June.

* French Creek Valley Conservancy's Summer Sojourn 2017 on the French Creek Water Trail, June 17.

* Loyalhanna Watershed Association's fourth annual Loyalhanna Sojourn on Loyalhanna Creek, May 20. …
