(Mba-Star-Trek-Plate-Offensive)

Manitoba Public Insurance has revoked a Star Trek fan's personalized licence plate after receiving complaints that its message -- ASIMIL8 (assimiliate) -- is offensive to indigenous people.

Organizers say other vigils are being held across the country, including in Winnipeg and Montreal.

They say many people don't know how to deal with the brutality of the death of the young woman, who was to graduate this year from the local high school. (CTV Winnipeg)
