Blues and Liverpool Could Meet in European Play-Off

CITY and Liverpool could be heading for a tense play-off for a place in the Champions League next season.

And if they do have to meet in a tense clash, either Old Trafford or Goodison Park would be the likeliest neutral venue.

The Blues are currently three points behind the Scousers with a game in hand following their 1-0 win at Watford on Monday night.

That goal meant that the Merseyside club now has a goal difference which is one better than City, with the Blues having four games left to play and Liverpool three.

As things stand, Liverpool would grab a play-off place ahead of City should the two teams finish level in terms of points and goal difference, as they have scored five more goals, which is the third criteria in terms of determining league position.

But City have three home games in their last four matches, and could easily make up that gap. …
