NAT066 - (Yukon-BC-Earthquakes) SIDNEY, B.C. x-15s. Seismologist Alison Bird with the Geological Survey of Canada says the number of earthquakes and aftershocks that have been felt in northwestern B-C and southern Yukon since yesterday are "intense" but not unusual. The region is known for seismic activity and Bird says powerful quakes -- like the two yesterday measuring 6.2 and 6.3 -- will cause ongoing movements of the Earth. She points to the magnitude-9 quake that happened in 2004 in Sumatra. ("..quite normal.")(SOURCE:The Canadian Press)
