(BC-WEA-Flooding)

Officials say searches have now become recovery efforts for two B-C men believed to have been swept away in separate natural disasters.

R-C-M-P Staff Sergeant Scott West says the family of a 76-year-old Tappen man was "understandably upset" to hear that searchers had no luck finding him after a mudslide tore through his home.

Saturday's slide also cut off access to about 100 other homes in that area of the Shuswap and West said the mudflow blocking the road could be as much as two-and-a-half metres deep.

R-C-M-P also confirmed today that the recovery effort for Cache Creek fire Chief Clayton Cassidy -- who disappeared on Friday while checking the creek -- has been scaled back.

Flooding and slides began Friday after summer-like temperatures caused rapid snow melt, followed by a series of torrential downpours. (CHNL, CKIZ, The Canadian Press)

Investigators say the three left home around 3 p-m and they were last seen in a silver 2006 Honda Accord. …
