EAST ALTON > Standoff suspect faces several charges * A man who allegedly fired shots at police and his neighbors' homes late Sunday night is facing multiple charges.

East Alton police say John P. Moore, of the 400 block of Wood River Avenue, surrendered to police after a standoff at his duplex, which started about 11 p.m.

No one was injured, and Moore surrendered after about two hours, police said.

The Madison County state's attorney's office charged Moore with attempted first degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm against a peace officer, aggravated discharge of a firearm against a vehicle occupied by a peace officer, aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and criminal damage to property over $300.

St. Clair County Judge Richard Tognarelli set Moore's bail at $500,000 Tuesday.

A resident reported gunshots Sunday night, and officers who came to investigate saw Moore at his front door. He began firing shots toward the officers, who took cover. No officer was hit, and they did not return fire, police said.

Bullets struck two homes across the street. At one home, a few bullets hit the exterior of the home and at least one went through a window.

ST. LOUIS > Bicyclist killed on street is identified * A bicyclist who was struck by a car and killed while riding in St. Louis last week has been identified as Timothy Finocchio, 51, of the 4100 block of Neosho Street, a few blocks from where he was hit Friday night.

Police say the 18-year-old driver of the 2002 BMW 325 that struck Finocchio is cooperating with the investigation of the crash, which happened in the 4400 block of Gravois Avenue just before midnight Friday, according to police.

The BMW was traveling southwest on Gravois approaching Taft Avenue when it struck Finocchio, sending the cyclist onto the street and wedging the bicycle underneath the car. Finocchio was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

ST. LOUIS > Teen driver is fatally shot * A teenager driving a car in south St. Louis was shot to death Monday night in the 4300 block of California Avenue.
