Express Scripts Launches Program to Reduce Drug Prices for Uninsured

Express Scripts Holding Co., the nation's largest pharmacy benefit manager, has launched a new program to reduce the cost of drugs for those who struggle to afford them.

The announcement of the program comes at a time when the St. Louis County-based company is in a public feud with its largest client, Anthem, and has faced increased scrutiny over its role in contributing to higher drug prices.

The program, InsideRx, an Express Scripts subsidiary, has partnered with GoodRx to allow eligible patients to gain discounts for certain drugs available at 40,000 national and regional pharmacies.

GoodRx provides discounts to for prescription drugs. Consumers can download the GoodRx phone app to search by prescription drug to see which pharmacies near them have the best price using the GoodRx discount.

Express Scripts said its extending its scale and purchasing power to lower the cost of drugs for patients in need. …
