(Ont-PC-Ethics)

P-C Leader Patrick Brown says his party will bring in ethics and accountability legislation if it wins next year's provincial election.

Brown says his eight-point plan would make it illegal for cabinet ministers to have targets for the amount of money they are expected to raise for their party.

It would also prevent them from calling those who do business with the government to solicit donations.

Both of those issues came up during the Liberals' so-called cash-for-access fundraising scandal last year, in which government ministers were accused of holding private money-raisers.

Deputy Premier Deb Matthews criticized Brown's plan as a diversionary tactic, saying he's avoiding talking about fiscal issues. (The Canadian Press)

(Hamilton-Shooting)

Hamilton police say a man is in life-threatening condition after being shot in a home invasion that also left his wife and others injured.

Two men have been taken into custody and police say they are hunting for three other suspects in what they called a targeted attack that occurred shortly after 9 a-m.

Hamilton police Constable Steve Welton says officers who responded to calls of an armed break-and-enter in progress were able to capture two suspects, one of them a teenager.

He says three others ran off and are still being sought. (The Canadian Press)

The S-I-U says Delong was shot by police minutes after he allegedly shot and wounded a criminal defence lawyer outside his law office.

Delong faces 15 charges including attempted murder, and is to appear in court next month. …
