Prosecutors to Decide on Death Crash Charge

CROWN prosecutors are reviewing a file of evidence after an elderly man was arrested in connection with a fatal crash at Withington Community Hospital.

Clare Haslam and Deborah Clifton died after they were in a collision with a Ford Focus in the hospital's car park in south Manchester two months ago.

An 89-year-old man, believed to be from Manchester, was arrested on suspicion of causing the two deaths by dangerous driving and was interviewed by detectives.

He has since been released on bail.

Greater Manchester Police have now handed a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service which is under review. No charges have been brought in connection with the case.

Clare, 44, and Deborah, 49, from Chorlton, died from their injuries shortly after the collision on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 7. …
