Tapped, a restaurant and self-pour bar, is now open at 7278 Manchester Road in Maplewood. This is the first venture for married owners Lindsay and Ryan Reel.

Tapped offers 48 taps: 39 beers, eight wines and one coffee. Customers access each tap with an RFID (radio-frequency identification) wristband and then pour a sample or full glass.

"The customer walks in, checks in and sets up a tab," Ryan Reel said. "We scan their drivers license and credit card and set up the RFID wristband."

The whole process takes "10 seconds," Reel said.

The oft-changing selection of craft beer emphasizes breweries from Missouri and Illinois. A Louisville, Ky., brewery is also represented, and Reel said Tapped planned to expand its offerings outside the area.

The Reels also developed the food menu, which includes appetizers (toasted ravioli, Bavarian pretzels), soups and salads, sandwiches and a couple of entrees (beer-battered fish, sausage with potato salad and sauerkraut). …
