HOUSTON will host the first overseas Manchester derby in the United States this summer.

The International Champions Cup match will take place at NFL franchise Houston Texans' NRG Stadium on Thursday, July 20, with kick-off slated for 8.30pm local time - which would be 1.30am on July 21 in the UK.

United previously played at the NRG Stadium in 2010, when they beat the MLS All-Stars 5-2 as Javier Hernandez made his goalscoring bow in front of a full house.

"The game in Houston gives our large US family of fans another chance to see the team play live," United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward said.

"The last time we played in Houston, over 70,000 packed the stadium and we are looking forward to entertaining them again."

United and City were due to face each other in Beijing last year but the fixture was cancelled amid farce in the Chinese capital, which had experienced torrential rain in the days preceding the fixture. …
