Car Fleeing Traffic Stop in St. Louis Crashes, Shears Second Car in Two

ST. LOUIS * Police are searching for a driver who fled from a traffic stop and slammed into another car, shearing off its back end and leaving that driver in critical condition Tuesday.

The cars collided near Shreve and Natural Bridge avenues about 9:45 a.m., police said. The force of the crash broke the back end off a Nissan Altima and left it sitting on a sidewalk about 10 feet away from the front of the car. The Chevrolet Malibu that had been fleeing police sustained heavy front-end damage.

The driver of that car got out and ran away, police said.

The crash came after a St. Louis officer using radar to monitor the speed of drivers along Natural Bridge saw the speeding dark-colored Chevrolet Malibu. The officer did a U-turn and pulled behind the speeding car. The Malibu appeared to be pulling over, but then sped away, said St. …
