No. 45 is testing our democratic republic in ways never before imagined. But he doesn't bear all the blame.

There have been years of special interests funding campaigns. Billionaires buy the media outlets to spin the news cycle based on political perspectives instead of facts, and they profit by doing so. The public allows gerrymandering, doesn't vote and chooses to hold no one accountable for public officials' corruption. As long as gas prices are low, we can watch our favorite TV show and we get the cable news channel of our choice, we are like lambs being led to slaughter. No matter the party, we have all been complacent.

Now, we have a president who sees an opening. He has taken advantage of the attitude of discontent and is manipulating and eroding our process, which threatens our country as we know it. …
