Inmate Charged with Threatening to Kill Allegheny Judge

A 24-year-old Clearfield County man was charged Tuesday with sending threatening letters to an Allegheny County Common Pleas judge several times over the course of a year.

Investigators with the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office believe Nathan Hoye of Houtzdale sent at least nine letters to Judge Beth Lazzara between April 2016 and April 2017, according to a criminal complaint. He is charged with multiple counts of making threats, harassment and stalking.

Hoye is accused of sending the handwritten letters from the State Correctional Institute at Greene in Waynesburg, where he is serving a sentence of between 16 to 32 months in a 2014 case in which he pleaded guilty to two counts of simple assault, two counts of making threats, and assault by a prisoner. …
