In response to George Bedo's letter regarding President Donald Trump's meeting with the Russian ambassador and foreign minister ("The President Is Risking America's Security," May 17): It appears to be virtually no more than a political propaganda rant. Mr. Bedo, there is no such thing as a super-secret classification! First, and foremost, the original classification authority rests with the president, who can classify or declassify information after discussions with appropriate agencies. In this meeting was the national security adviser, who has stated that nothing inappropriate was discussed.

No American members of the media were present at the meeting, so one must wonder from whence comes Mr. Bedo's information and revelations. The Russian press was present, so one must wonder how "secret" the discussions were. …
