TAIPEI, Taiwan -- For Taiwan's Apple fans, the long wait is over: Apple is getting ready to open its first official retail store in Taiwan in the iconic Taipei 101 skyscraper.

Currently, customers in Taiwan rely on Apple's website and its authorized resellers, such as Youth, Studio A and iStudio, to buy its products.

Apple hasn't announced an opening date for its first official Taiwan store, but the Chinese-language Apple Daily reported that some speculate it would open by the end of June.

There's construction hoarding surrounding the site of the retail store, featuring a large tree and Apple's logo in the center of the tree trunk.

Themed on the concept of "the tree as a gathering place," the hoarding's design is by Taiwanese paper-cutting artist Yang Shih-yi. …
