Flooding Sweeps Away Several Vehicles in South Hills; No Injuries Reported

The storm that has been pushing through the area has caused localized flooding in parts of Pittsburgh. The flooding also seems to be wreaking havoc on traffic, notably in the South Hills.

Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Sonya Toler said no injuries due to the flooding have been reported, but several vehicles were swept away and people had to be rescued.

Two children had to be helped from the Fire and Ice Allstars complex in the 1300 block of Route 51. Another person was rescued from the roof of a car on Provost Road.

Two swift water rescue teams were conducting a search of Saw Mill Run Creek for vehicles from a used car lot, Ms. Toler said. At least one vehicle was already found.

Based on police radio transmissions, authorities shut down a portion of Route 51/Saw Mill Run Boulevard at Bausman Street, after water began rushing down the hill and flooded the intersection. …
