Thank you for "Why Does Clarion Struggle While SlipperyRock Soars?" (June 13). As a 1992 graduate of Clarion University, I am heartbroken to see this state university struggling with dwindling enrollment and facing financial difficulties. During my four years at Clarion, I received an affordable, quality education and made wonderful friends. I have positive memories of my college days.

Living on campus all four years in Campbell Hall, volunteering in the admissions office, being a communication major, taking daily walks along Main Street in downtown Clarion and hiking in nearby Cook Forest State Park are memories that will last a lifetime.

I've been a priest in the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh for the past 16 years. LikeClarion and the other state schools, the diocese has seen similar changes in its parishes and schools with the loss of population in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania and lower number of school-age children. …
