NAT032 - (US-Worldwide-Canoe-Voyage) (NOT FOR ONLINE USE) HONOLULU. x-05s. Thousands gathered in Honolulu Saturday to welcome home a 19.5-metre canoe from its three-year voyage around the world. The double-hulled Hokulea (ho-koo-LAY'-ah) arrived back to the island of Oahu after traveling more than 64-thousand kilometres with no modern navigation equipment. The crew of 12 used traditional Polynesian methods to reach 19 countries on their voyage. Dennis Chun of the Polynesian Voyaging Society sailed his canoe into Honolulu harbour to meet Hokulea on its way in. ("..and is doing.") (SOURCE:ABC) -- TAG: Hokulea means "star of gladness."
