BERNARDO Silva has eased fears that he could have picked up a serious injury after limping off in Portugal's Confederations Cup win over New Zealand. The new £43m City signing is believed to have sprained his ankle while scoring the second goal in his country's 4-0 win, which sealed their place in the tournament semi-finals.

Silva dashed into the box to apply the finishing touch to Pereira Eliseu's cross, but under a strong challenge from a defender he landed awkwardly on his ankle.

He continued to play for eight minutes, until half-time, but was then replaced, sparking fears that there might be some serious damage.
