Evalds Latest Player to Sign New Deal with the Red Devils

NIALL Evalds has become the latest Salford player to commit his longterm future to the Red Devils. A Salford academy product, the 23-year-old has scored 11 tries in 12 appearances so far this year and was voted player of the season in 2015.

However, he found it difficult to break into the first team in the early part of the season, especially as Gareth O'Brien was in tremendous form in his preferred full-back spot.

But after some strong performances on the wing, Evalds has dislodged O'Brien from the No.1 jersey and extended his deal at the AJ Bell Stadium.

"Niall has been with us since he was 15 and he's made massive progress with the club," said head coach Ian Watson.

"I'm really pleased that he's chosen to commit his long-term future to Salford. He's had to really fight for his place this year and he's let his performances do the talking."

Evalds is the latest in a long line of Red Devils who have signed new contracts in recent weeks, with chief executive Ian Blease revealing Salford fought off competition from a number of other clubs to tie him down. …
