A HOLIDAY flight to Cuba was forced to turn around an hour after taking off from Manchester because of a technical fault.

Passengers on board the Thomas Cook flight watched as their aircraft pulled a u-turn above Ireland. Airline bosses say the pilot made the decision due to an unspecified suspected technical problem.

One passenger on board the flight posted an image of one of the aircraft's wings and claims that engineers had used 'sticky tape' to carry out a repair - however, airline bosses say this was not the case and say that the problem was unconnected to the wing.

Passenger Simon Rowlingson tweeted a picture of engineers on a cherry picker examining the wing before the plane took off for Holguin in Cuba.
