Barcelona's Fury as City Pay £1.3M for Whizzkid

BARCELONA are said to be furious City have grabbed their exciting 16-year-old Eric Garcia for £1.3m.

The teenager was being seen as the natural heir to Gerard Pique at the heart of the Barca defence, but City seem poised to sign him after agreeing to pay his buyout clause.

The Blues are tight-lipped about any move for Garcia, but there are ructions in the Catalan capital after it emerged Pep Guardiola was expected to take the young prospect away - aided by the player's agent and another Barcelona legend, Carles Puyol.

City are said to have offered Garcia a three-year deal on better terms than Barcelona could come up with.

The latest deal for a graduate of La Masia, Barca's fabled academy, comes after Pique left the Nou Camp on a free to join United in 2004 and was bought back four years later for £5m.

Barca fans are also unhappy because Cesc Fabregas had to be bought back from Arsenal for £28m under similar circumstances and they may now have to stump up big money to recover another of their products, Hector Bellerin, from the Gunners. …
