Boss Kieran Tells Gomes and Friends It's Time to Make Step Up

THE gauntlet has been thrown down to United's youth players like Angel Gomes to step up another level.

United's Under-18s coach Kieran McKenna nominated Gomes, defender Lee O'Connor and midfielder Callum Whelan for the prestigious Jimmy Murphy Youth team Player of the Year award for 2017.

It was exciting midfielder Gomes who picked up the personal trophy to become the youngest-ever recipient, and first 16-year-old, to win the award. He also featured in United's final Premier League match of the season coming on late for Wayne Rooney against Crystal Palace for his senior debut.

Previous winners were Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville and Danny Welbeck who all went on to first team success at United.

And now Gomes and Co have to take their Old Trafford careers onwards and upwards. …
