The official national Canada Day 150 celebrations got underway over the noon hour today on Parliament Hill with the singing of the national anthem by vocalist Marie-Josee Lord. Heritage Minister Melanie Joly was the first to speak to the tens of thousands of people gathered on the rain-soaked grounds, reminding the crowd that Canada cannot forget about its past mistreatment of indigenous Canadians.
