The Mon-Fay Project Feels Like'groundhog Day'

I feel like I'm in the movie "Groundhog Day." It's the same thing over and over again. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the June 27 article "Planners Resume $2 Billion Mon-Fayette Expressway Project"! How many times do we have to revisit this waste of taxpayer money?

According to the article, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald isn't convinced that the building of the Mon-Fayette Expressway extension provides the best transportation solution to the Mon Valley, but he thinks it's better than doing nothing! I disagree.

Apparently, the project is mandated by the state legislators; it's a "use it or lose it" kind of deal. Am I the only one who thinks this is ridiculous? If our legislators can mandate it, they also have the power to change that mandate to use funding in a more responsible manner. …
