AN immersive open-air version of a Shakespeare classic is being given a modern makeover - including Oasis as part of the soundtrack.

Heaton Park - which Noel and Liam Gallagher's Oasis once played - will be transformed into the fairy tale setting for the Bard's romantic comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The walk-about performance promises an enchanting watch for all the family, incorporating music from the Burnage band into the revamped script, using their track The Masterplan.

There will be more traditional music as part of the performance though, such as Gilbert and Sullivan, as well as a touch of retro with Everly Brothers. As well as Oasis, Heaton Park has played host to some of Manchester's biggest bands - such as the Stone Roses and The Courteeners - and the producer, FeelGood Theatre company's artistic director Caroline Clegg, wanted to highlight this in her production. …
