PEP Guardiola is closing in on deals for Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy - worth around £100m combined.

The City manager missed out on Dani Alves this week - but has made breakthroughs in his pursuits two other full-back targets.

Walker was due in Manchester last night, ahead of a medical this morning.

City have agreed a £45m deal with Tottenham for the England international, with add-ons that could eventually take it to in excess of £50m.

That would make the 27-year-old the most expensive defender of all time - topping David Luiz' £50m move from Chelsea to Paris St Germain in 2014.

He will earn around £150,000-aweek over a five-year contract.

Mendy could also cost in the region of £50m, with City hopeful of concluding a deal for the Monaco left-back imminently.

Despite identifying Walker and Mendy as Guardiola's top defensive targets, City have faced difficult negotiations with both Spurs and French champions Monaco, who have refused to let their players go on the cheap. …
