The grade II listed Victorian relic is a stunning setting for actress Jane Horrocks' slick and highly stylised industrial music drama, Cotton Panic!

Created in collaboration with her screenwriter partner Nick Vivian and the techno band Wrangler - featuring Stephen Mallinder of Cabaret Voltaire - the show tells the story of the grinding poverty that gripped Lancashire as cotton supplies from the US dried up when anti-slavery Union forces blockaded the southern states during the American Civil War.

Essentially a live concept album, the music and staging are spectacular. Clog beats are turned into thumping techno as the names of northern towns - Nelson! …
