All Students Will Be Cool When They Return to School

For the first time, all students in the Mt. Lebanon School District will start the school year in an air-conditioned building.

School directors heard the news Monday, during an update on the nearly $6 million project to install air conditioning for the first time at the district's nine elementary and middle schools.

"We are on time. We are on budget," district director of facilities Richard Marciniak said. "And, we have had not one single change order request."

Mr. Marciniak said the project, started seven months ago, should be completed at all of the schools within the next five weeks. The new school year starts Sept. 5. He said work has been completed at Lincoln Elementary School, and he expected Howe and Foster elementary schools to be finished by the end of this week.

The board also got the final of 55 updates on the $109 million-plus high school renovation, which is slated to wrap up by the start of school. …
