HUNDREDS of people came together to celebrate Manchester's diversity at a special celebration at the city's cathedral.

The 'Peace and Unity' event saw community and faith groups representing different cultures with a mixture of song, dance, food and religious fellowship.

There were guest speakers, varying music and dance performances and activities for children and families - including a story tent, puppet show, origami crafts, a Sufi circle of chanting and whirling, along with a meditation area.

There were also free refreshments at the event, attended by an estimated 300 people. The event was held last year and planned again for this year before the Manchester Arena bombing in May.

However, this year it had the motto 'We Stand Together' - a reference to the solidarity showed in the wake of the Arena atrocity. …
