Eric Clapton's rural retreat in the French countryside has been on the market for some time now despite its connections to the Slow Hand guitarist.

The 72-year-old's Provence farmhouse recently had €1m knocked off its asking price, and Eric is hoping for a sale at the new price of €2.25m (£1.92m).

The property first went on the market in November 2015 and is in the sleepy but fashionable village of Nans Les Pins approximately 45km north-east of Marseilles.

Described by its agent, Home Hunts, as 'priced to sell', the stone property has nine bathrooms, a 10-acre garden, tennis court, swimming pool, boules pitch and a cinema room. There's also a two-bedroom annexe.

Famed for his extraordinary guitar playing and hits such as Tears in Heaven and Wonderful Tonight, Eric bought the property during the early Noughties as a bolt hole for him and his wife Melia to escape the rigours of fame and touring. …
