Whoever Does the Asking Should Pay for the Date

Article excerpt

DEAR NATALIE: Who should pay for a date? Really? I am totally lost in the dating landscape after being married for 10 years and recently divorcing. I have no idea what is acceptable anymore. - PICK UP THE TAB

DEAR PICK UP THE TAB: Because of the uncertainty people are facing financially these days, as well as how expensive dates can be, (my jaw dropped when I went to the movies the other night to see that a large popcorn and soda could run up to $20!), it can be confusing as to who should pay for what. I told her I think this is all crazy and that she should either confront him or just go through his phone when he isn't around. She said he keeps his phone locked and with him at all times. He claims it's because of "work stuff" that he doesn't want her kids to get into if they pick up his phone and try to play with it. …
