Five Stars! Restaurants Named in UK's Top 100

FIVE Manchester restaurants have been named among the best in the country in SquareMeal's UK Top 100.

Manchester House, Aiden Byrne's fine dining spot in Spinningfields, is the city's highest entry at number 24 on the list, which ranks the best restaurants outside London.

Adam Reid at The French, inside The Midland Hotel, is close behind at 26, followed by sister restaurant Mr Cooper's House and Garden at 60.

King Street tapas restaurant El Gato Negro also made it on to the list at number 100, just behind crowdfunded Didsbury bistro Hispi at number 98.

Hispi owner Gary Usher's original Chester restaurant Sticky Walnut and sister site Burnt Truffle in Heswall, on the Wirral, also feature on the list.

Gary, who is about to open his fourth restaurant, Wreckfish in Liverpool, said: "We're absolutely chuffed to have not just one, but all three of the restaurants featured in the list. …
