Suspected Car Thieves Nabbed by Plucky Residents

RESIDENTS detained suspected car thieves after they allegedly broke into homes as they were chased by police through south Manchester.

Officers began pursuing an Alfa Romeo on Wilmslow Road in Didsbury - believing it to have been stolen - at around 1pm yesterday.

The 'high-speed' chase continued on to Parrs Wood Lane and Princess Parkway, before the driver and two other men abandoned the car on Rosevale Avenue in Burnage.

Police said one man was arrested shortly after, but two forced their way into nearby houses.

Residents are understood to have restrained the men and held them in their homes until officers arrived to arrest them.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said three men were arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle.

They remained in custody for questioning on Tuesday evening. …
