ROMELU Lukaku insists he wants to 'create my own history' at United as he looks to step out of his idol Didier Drogba's shadow.

The Ivorian acted as the 24-year-old's mentor while he was at Chelsea and the pair sat beside each other in the dressing room.

Given Lukaku's physique and strength, it inevitably led to talk he would be 'the next Drogba' and his heir at Stamford Bridge.

And, while Drogba still offers Lukaku advice, United's No.9 is keen on being his own man at Old Trafford following his £75m move from Everton.

"Drogba is more of a hold-up player, a target man. I prefer to have ball to feet and run in behind," he said.

"I'm Romelu Lukaku, I want to create my own history."
