Over the past few weeks four signs that say "Welcome to Castle Shannon Borough" have been stolen from main roads in the town. The signs were at Greenridge Road and Connor Road; Hamilton Road; McRoberts Road and Loma Drive; and Route 88 and Spring Street.

Police said the thieves removed the signs by unfastening hardware, apparently to avoid damaging the signs.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 412-885-9300 or the borough office, 412-885-9200.

A reward is being offered.


Three sets of public steps off Bouquet Street are in line for reconstruction.

Mayor Jack Muhr recently told council the borough received a $100,000 grant from the state Department of Community and Economic Development to rebuild the steps. …
