Even as administrators at a Taipei City government meeting fretted over oBike and the illegal parking problem that it has created, Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je remained unshaken in his conviction that oBikes were definitely superior.

Ko said his "gut feeling" was that the YouBike -- a bike share provided by Taipei's Department of Transportation with bike-maker Giant -- was fated to be obliterated by its rival oBike.

The main difference between the oBike and the YouBike is that the former lets riders end their journey anywhere, locking up the bike with a mobile app. …
