Topeka Police Investigating Shooting That Left 3 Injured

Topeka police are investigating what led to the shooting of three people early Wednesday in the Pine Ridge housing complex in East Topeka.

Eleana Valvivia said she was visiting the home at 2854 S.E. Highland Court where the shooting happened in the front yard just after 1 a.m.

"I was coming out of the bathroom when I heard the shots," she said. "I got down on the floor. I didn't see it. I just heard it."

Valvivia said the woman she was visiting is the mother of the man who was shot and the grandmother of the 16-year-old male who was also shot.

Topeka police Lt. Andrew Beightel said the woman and the two males were transported to a local hospital with injuries considered to be life-threatening, but all three were in stable condition a few hours later. …
