A WANTED man was Tasered following a three-hour rooftop stand-off with police.

The man stood on the ledge of the building in Chinatown in Manchester city centre, surrounded by barbed wire as specially-trained negotiators spoke to him yesterday morning.

St James Street was cordoned off after police, paramedics and fire crews were scrambled to the scene.

Officers were forced to clamber on top of bins to speak to the man as he paced along the 20ft-high roof.

The man climbed down after three hours - and was Tasered by officers before being arrested. It is understood he was wanted in connection with domestic violence offences.

A man who watched the drama unfold from his flat window said: "He was stood on the roof and then he decided to come down. …
