(Mulroney-PCs)

Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader Patrick Brown says he's thrilled to see someone like Caroline Mulroney seeking to run for the party in next year's provincial election.

Brown took to Twitter to welcome the news that former prime minister Brian Mulroney's daughter would seek the P-C nomination in York-Simcoe, north of the Toronto area.

The riding has been held since 1995 by Progressive Conservative Julia Munro, who is retiring.

Mulroney will find out if she has the nomination following a meeting on September 10th.

(Flight-Returned)

An Air Canada passenger is expected to appear in court this morning after causing a flight to be was flown back to Toronto's Pearson International Airport last night.

Peel Region police say a flight attendant was assaulted during an incident and suffered minor injuries.

The flight was bound for Budapest, Hungary and a police spokesman says he believes the plane was over Nova Scotia when it flew back.

The unidentified passenger was arrested at Pearson and police say he is likely to be charged with assault. (The Canadian Press)

(TSB-Train-Derailment)

A report is expected today on a C-N Rail train derailment in northern Ontario that ended with numerous tank cars spilling oil into a river system.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will release its report on the March 2015 incident near Gogama -- about 80 kilometres south of Timmins.

Ten train cars carrying crude oil came off the tracks, with some of them catching fire and some going into the Mattagami River.

Residents of a nearby First Nation were warned to stay indoors during the cleanup and were also advised not to consume the local water. (The Canadian Press)
